Finally, after a long few months without forum software, we have decided on the software we will be using. The forum software in question needed to be compatible with WordPress, allow Single-Sign-On (SSO), and not break the websites comments. It has been a long few months in the search of a forum message board service that would be best suited with FromSoft Fanatics. We have decided to use CodoForum. In case you would like to know the details why we chose CodoForum, here is a short snippet of that post.

The forum software of choice for the FromSoft Fanatics message boards were heavily intended to be software developed by Invision Power Services. The software of choice was originally going to be from the Invision Board 4.0.x series (IPB4). Unfortunately, problems occurred.

As it turns out, there is no single-sign-on (SSO) solution to integrate IPB4 and wordpress (the software we use for our website) together. However, there is with the now almost deprecated Invision Power Board 3.4.x series (IPB3). This got me excited, as I was very familiar with IPB3 and knew that the mod to integrate IPB3 and wordpress together known as “WP IPSConnect” would do wonders…I was wrong. As it turns out, the plugin breaks constantly when working with the latest version of IPB3 (which was promised to work in the mod’s documentation). This led to some frustration, including nearly breaking the main websites login cache.

I happened to find CodoForum software, and alongside that the members that raved about it’s integration with wordpress and how easily SSO works. I was a little skeptical, but to my surprise, it worked flawlessly. There also happen to be several perks to the forum software to, and I enjoy how modern and clean everything is. As soon as I got the SSO integrated with the website (comments aren’t broken, and the login cache works too thankfully), I decided that this was the software FromSoft Fanatics (FsF) will use.

The coolest thing about the integration of CodoForum and our website is the SSO functionality that works right out of the box. If you have an account here, you will automatically have an account on the forum and be logged in right away (and vice versa). For every article published on here, I will create an identical forum topic on the message boards for users to take participation and discuss freely in. Please note, user comments left on the website articles will not be published on the forum side of things, this is to avoid repetition from users rereading the same content, and also a way to create more unique content.

I also wanted to announce that in this article, I am still working on the conditions for our Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne giveaway. Obviously, the giveaway for the expansion for Bloodborne and the release of Dark Souls 3 are at entirely separate times, thus, the giveaway for both items are at separate times (winners will be announced shortly before release, will ship from Amazon). I would personally like to give more people an opportunity at winning a copy of both game, so I am announcing that if you register on the website/forum from 12:00 AM September 4, 2015 until 12:00 AM September 11, 2015 you are automatically entered in the giveaway.

As far as conditions go for the giveaway…:

[Bloodborne Expansion conditions]

-Own a PS4, own Bloodborne (required to play through the expansion)

-Live in the United States of America (temp. rule, may change as copy is digital distribution)

[Dark Souls 3 conditions]

-Live in the United States of America

I apologize for those that live outside of the USA, but I cannot cover shipping costs outside the country for four copies of Dark Souls 3. These conditions are NOT final and can change. Please note, after this week, official conditions for those who want to enter the giveaway will be shared and be more strict (example, need twenty forum posts).

For those of you who would like to register for the forums, here is the link below. As long as you have an account here, all you need to do is sign in. A page link for the forums will be added above to the navigation bar at the top of the page.

You made a good point at not merging the comments with the topic replies.

Individual and unique responses are much nicer than seeing the same comment multiple times. (:

On the website navigation under “Control Panel”, there should be a “Contact us” page. It will be a small, simple form that users can fill out. Their messages will be emailed to me.
